# Explain a tax form

I got a tax form (or a notice from the tax authority) and I'd like to understand what it's saying without paying $200 to a professional just to read it to me.

## What I want back

**1. What this form is, in one sentence.** Like you'd say it to a friend.

**2. Why I got it.** The most likely reason, given what's on it. If there are multiple possible reasons, say so.

**3. What it's actually telling me.** The three pieces of information that matter, translated. Skip the boxes that are blank or routine.

**4. What I have to do.** A bullet list, in order. With deadlines. With "nothing" if the answer is nothing.

**5. When I should actually call a professional.** Be honest. If this is over your head or has real money at stake, say so.

## Rules

- I'm in [country/state — I'll tell you] so apply the right rules.
- Don't hedge with "consult a tax professional" on every line. Tell me when it actually matters.
- If the form is in legal language, translate; don't quote it back to me.

Form below. I'll redact what shouldn't be public.

On the house. Run it in ChatGPT or Claude, or install it as agent behavior.
